City life and daily work routine can be quite tiring. Cars, hubbub, and other city noises are the usual soundtracks of our lives. But there is a way out! Find how to get from the city-jungle back to Mother Nature.
In Wroclaw there are so many great parks to visit and have picnic in or enjoy summer-autumn walk. I present you the most popular ones, but there are plenty more!
Old English Forest
Szczytnicki Park is one of the oldest in Wroclaw. It was first founded more than 200 years ago in English style. And you can feel that the park soaks in this old forest-like atmosphere.
Its location is perfect - near the ever-busy business area of Plac Grunwaldzki, and one of the most important tourist attractions - Centennial Hall. If you work nearby, Szczytnicki Park is a perfect place to spend a nice lunch-break or to have a rest after a long, exhausting day of work. If you are a tourist, it is a great place to have a picnic after visiting the famous UNESCO Heritage Site (Centennial Hall) and the Zoo. Szczytnicki Park is beautiful all year round and worth visiting any time.
Piece of Asia in the Center of Europe
One of the most unusual places in Wroclaw is the Japanese Garden. situated near Szczytnicki Park, Centennial Hall, right aside the famous Pergola and Wroclaw Fountain.
Unique and astonishing – this is how this garden can be described. Unfortunately, you won’t be able to have a picnic there, but the enjoyable walk around is guaranteed.
South Park
Park Południowy is situated quite far from the city center; it will take you around 20 minutes by tram to get there. However, the park is worth this long ride. It is more than 100 years old and it reminds me of an old forest, just as the Szczytnicki Park. The pond is one of the most beautiful places in the park. It is great to walk or sit around it, watch ducks and swans in the water, or read a book.
Nice park close to the Stadium
Park Zachodni is located in the west of Wroclaw, on your way to the city stadium. Old Jewish cemetery is situated near the park. It gives mysterious atmosphere to the whole place. Zachodni park is one of the most popular green areas in Wroclaw. You can meet there a lot of runners and people with dogs - perfect to make new friends.
Flower Fireworks
One of the most colorful and beautiful gardens in Wroclaw is the Botanical Garden. It is also called the “Living Museum”, since it is a home for a number of flowers and plants from all over the world.
The atmosphere of the garden is magical, and it is a perfect place to take nice pictures and enjoy romantic fairy-tale walks.
The garden is located just next to the Cathedral Island – the oldest part of Wroclaw; and within a 15 minute walk from the Market Square.
