Movies in Wroclaw?

Nowe Horyzonty [New Horizons] Cinema is the place where you can see something more than yet another popular movie on the big screen. In the evening you can relax watching ‘The Taming of the Shrew’ or ‘Don Quichote’. In September they will screen ‘Tosca’ straight from the New York Metropolitan Opera. So let’s check out the interesting options for a movie night.

If you have already seen the ‘Suicide Squad’, it is time for change. Nowe Horyzonty is the cinema like no other. There is no popcorn, and the people who come to see the movies are genuinely interested in what they are watching. After the T-Mobile Nowe Horyzonty Festival, we can still experience great cinema there. ‘Julieta’ directed by Pedro Almodovar, which was the opening movie of the Festival, will be on screen on 24 August. The critics are delighted with this production and call it the ‘grand come-back of the maestro’.

Opera and ballet in the cinema!
If you prefer the classics, one of the most famous operas - ‘Tosca’ - should be among your plans for September. It will be transmitted from the Metropolitan Opera in New York, so we can see it in the star-studded cast. The show is planned for 3 September. The ballet fans should definitely see ‘The Taming of the Shrew’ with the exquisite music of Dmitrij Szostakowicz. Bolszoj is one of the oldest and the largest ballets - the retransmission allows us to relive this excellent piece of art in all its glory, at the very heart of Wroclaw. Make sure to put it in your calendar on 28 August!

Nick Cave in Wroclaw?
Now it is time for something special: Nick Cave is waiting for his fans in Kino Nowe Horyzonty on 8 September. He is not going to be there in person, but there will only be a screen between him and the audience. That is Wroclaw’s unique premiere show of ‘One More Time With Feeling’. It is the unpublished material about the creation of the newest, very personal album of Nick Cave, ‘Skeleton Tree’.

The repertoire of Kino Nowe Horyzonty is really worth following. Apart form the most popular productions, you can see the real treats from the world of culture and cinema art. Many cinema-lovers value this place also because of price discounts. On ‘Cheap Mondays’ you can see a fine movie for PLN 13, and some say that in Wroclaw is doesn’t get cheaper that that.
