Wroclaw is full of magic and charm and its atmosphere has already seduced many. But at the end of November it changes into an even more beautiful city. All that thanks to the Christmas Market. Hot wine, traditional Polish cheese - oscypek - with cranberries and truly festive vibe - all that is to be found in Wroclaw’s Rynek form 21 November.
Wroclaw’s Christmas Market is one of the most magical events of the year. And it appeals not only to the amateurs of the sweet Christmas atmosphere - they say that even Grinch will find something to enjoy - probably due to the aromas of Christmas treats.
The most delicious Market in Poland
The so-called “grzaniec” is the symbol of Wroclaw’s Market - those who have never tried it have no idea what they are missing. This is the time when everyone should cling to the cheesy shoe-shaped mug. Hot wine with aromatic spices tastes best when Rynek is covered with snow, but it does not happen every winter.... Grilled oscypek cheese with cranberries - traditional cheese form the Polish region of Podhale is one of the most delicious creations of Polish highlanders - make sure you’ve tried that, as the real ones have unrepeatable taste. It is worth mentioning that during Christmas Rynek smells not only with Polish dishes and dainties. You can also try Hungarian langos, Turkish baklava, French crepes and roasted chestnuts.
Time for Gifts!
The Market is not only food, of course, but also stands full of great presents for your loved ones. Traders from all corners of Poland come to the Market, so you can choose from the wide variety of jewelry, accessories and clothing original to different regions of Poland. There are decorative elements made of the unique lace from Koniaków, the famous china form Boleslawiec and many other things which are not available in regular stores. The Market is well-known internationally, so you can also encounter Portuguese perfumes, decorations from Nepal and natural cosmetics form Jordan. Our Polish saying “znajdziecie tutaj mydło i powidło!” [everything from soup to nuts] summarizes the diversity of this event perfectly.
The Fair starts on 21 November and lasts till the very Christmas Day - 22 December. It takes place at the part of Rynek next to Plac Solny Square and Świdnicka Street. This is also the time when the crowds seem to be more welcomed in the city centre.
